I use almost hand tools exclusively but I got a small drill press to make more accurate holes. I have not been doing this very long and this press as basic as it is will be a game changer for me. I was kinda concerned when I saw the cast iron eat into my bench. So I took my scrap wood and devised a shoe to make it a breeze to setup, move and secure my drill press.

I used ambrosia maple as an insert and screwed it to a flat level board. I drilled holes for bolts and ones for bench dogs.

now I can use it safely without bolting, clamping or marring. It will also serve to weigh my bench down when I break out my hand planes.
