Medicine Cabinet

author-gravatar mtaib Sep 09, 2019

This medicine cabinet was definitely a challenge for me and i am very happy with how it turned out. It is made entirely out of cherry and walnut milled locally (Indiana) with a small maple accent. It features dovetails, through wedged tenons, knife hinges, book-matched doors, a poplar french cleat that is mortised into the back of the cabinet, sliding dovetail batons (to keep the doors flat), and about ten patches/dutchman  (to help stabilize a few areas). #woodworking #wallcabinet #cabinet #walnut #cherry #dovetails #knifehinges #Summer2019WoodworkingContest

The cherry stock has been dimensioned and dovetails are cut.

You can never have enough clamps.

The completed cabinet. I added a relief in the bottom of each door to act as a pull. I used a dovetail bit to create a bit of an angle for someone's finger to grab onto.

Here you can see the maple batons I added to help keep the doors flat (glue was only applied to the very end of one side of the dovetail).
